The Protection and Preservation of the Outdoor Experience is designed to preserve special places so we recreate for generations to come.

Volunteering is one of the most important parts of Rick Retzman’s life. Since moving to Sisters six years ago, he has volunteered as a firefighter, along with volunteering at the Sisters Folk Festival, Sisters Quilt Show, and Sisters Rodeo.

As trail stewards and users, we have responsibility not only to our trails but to the overall health of our local environment. While many of us spend less time on the trails in winter, year-around affects on sensitive wildlife can take its toll.

2022 achieved much, and 2023 could be the organization’s biggest year yet, not only in terms of positively impacting your trail experience ---whether by horse, by bike or by foot-- but in terms of restoring, protecting, empowering and connecting people and nature in Sisters Country.

STA 2.0 (as we like to say inside the organization) is not only about rebranding the organization, refining our messaging and deepening our core work, it’s also about bringing new youth into the organization, the future stewards of our environment, that is, our trial system.
